problem with linearity of xtr 106

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR106, XTR117

I am using xtr106 for two wire accelerometer circuit.the output of the current transmitter is changing abrubtly from 4-12 ma.output of my sensor (accelerometer)is 0-2v.now i shorted vin- and Ireturn currrent path.pls suggest me some circuit designs for dc input.

  • Hello Nimmy,

I would not suggest tying the Vin- terminal to IRET as you've done.  The XTR106 is primarily designed for bridge sensors and has extra circuitry meant specifically for linearizing bridge sensor outputs.  If you're accelerometer is meant to be placed in a bridge then this is a good part for you.  A basic circuit diagram can be seen in the figure below:

If the output of the accelerometer is 0-2V DC and doesn't need to be placed in a bridge then the XTR106 may not be the best part and I would suggest looking at the XTR117.  Basic circuit connetions can be seen below.

The output of the accelerometer may need to be buffered if it can not drive the input resistance of the XTR117 on its own.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Hello collin,

Thank u for the reply.I will get back u if any doubt comes after working with xtr117.
