Most bipolar input transistor and high voltage CMOS op amps require back-to-back input protection diodes to prevent damage when the input terminals are pulled far apart. This fact, however, may cause a long-setting time when one of the diode gets turned-on disturbing input signal. Thus, the need for MUX-friendly input stage that eliminates the need for these input protection diodes - see below.
