Hi

I am developing a 4-20mA transmitter for current measurement for both low-side and high-side. I have developed a basic schematic using your reference document but require some support to decide on the GND sharing and isolation part. Please let me know how to take it forward.

  • Hi Rakesh,

I am developing a 4-20mA transmitter for current measurement for both low-side and high-side.

Can you show me your basic schematic from our reference design?

It is not clear what you want. What is your input range and intended to do with the V-I conversion?

We have integrated V-to-I 4-20mA current transmitter, such as XTR115/XTR116/XTR117 (2-wire current transmitters) and XTR111 (3-wire current transmitter). You are not going to design lower cost circuits from the discrete components.

The low-side and high-side of V-I conversion are often referring to voltage to current conversion, which is slightly different from 4-20mA transmitter (similar design approach), and you have to check to loop stability for the V-I conversion as well. Please be specific what you are trying to do.

    Best,

    Raymond
