LMV951: constant-current source circuit OPA solution check

Part Number: LMV951

Tool/software:

Hi Expert,

Customer would like to design a constant-current source circuit with 1V / 10A.

For OPA, Does LMV951 can support 1V input voltage?

If there is any better device, please also suggest. Thanks.

  • Hello Bo,

The supply voltage is 12V and LMV951 is one our lowest voltage range op amps. So that won't work. Offset voltage can be as high as 3mV, that's a 300mA output current error. Kelvin connection on both sides of R3 is needed. Therefore U1 needs a difference amplifier setup. What is the voltage at IN? Q2 can get incredibly hot.

I think we should start over. What is the load at "IN"? I think a switching current driver will be a better solution.
