THS9000: Clarifications

Part Number: THS9000

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

Needs to clarify a few information about the device.

(1) Is there a RF input power limitation?

(2) Just to verify, Since OIP3 is 35dBm and P1dB is 20dBm, so as a designer I should ensure my RF Output is maintained between 20 to 35dBm right?

Regards,

Renan

  • Hi Renan,

    1) Abs max voltage on input pin is Vs.

2)The third-order output intercept (OIP3) is a theoretical output level where fundamental(2 tones) and IMD3 products have same amplitude. This level is never reached in practice because the amplifier saturates before this happens. P1dB compression point is the output power of the amplifier at which it differs from an ideal linear amplifier by 1dB.

To operate Amplifier in linear region your RF output should be maintained at < 20dBm.dB. I would back-off at least 3dB from P1dB to get best linearity out of device.

  • Hello Hruday,

Just a few clarifications on your response for number 1:

So from your reply, I understand you have specified the maximum input voltage(the same is there in the datasheet). But I want to know the maximum RF Input Power, because we generally use Signal Power as the parameter to design the RF Systems. So I would like to know the maximum RF Input Power.

    Regards,

    Renan

  • Hi Renan,

Abs max power at input can be converted to abs max input power depending on your system impedance.

    Hruday
