       I wnated to know the frequency range of the said comparator and its effects on the switching and on response time of LM393.

Also response time in low frequency and high frequency switching scenarios.

  • A safe estimate of the upper frequency limit is the propagation delay, e.g., 1 / 1.3 µs = 769 kbps = 384 kHz.

    The propagation delay does not depend on the frequency but on the overdrive; see figures 6-4/6-5.

    As Clemens shows, the the *theoretical* limit is about 300kHz. We call this the "maximum toggle frequency".

    But that is under ideal circumstances. Output loading, output swing and overdrive (input signal level) also affect the maximum frequency.

    For the LM393 family, 100kHz is about the maximum you really want to push. Going faster, there are better, more suitable devices.

    What is your maximum frequency, supply voltage and output swing requirement?
