OPA171: OPA171 Pspice model is not working.

Part Number: OPA171
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA991, TINA-TI

Tool/software:

OPA171 Pspice mode is not working in any simulation software. i'm using it in unity gain buffer configuration. im trying to read its slew rate which is mention in datasheet (0.7V/us). i have added the images of result.

pink is input of buffer and green is output of buffer, i want to know the slew rate of this IC.

can you please check this Pspice model and let me know if there is any issue with the model.

  • Hi Rushikesh,

I'm not getting those results. Can you share with me a screenshot of your schematic so I can try to recreate it?

Also where are you getting 0.7 V/us for the slew rate of the OPA171? In the datasheet it's 1.5V/us.

    Thank you,

    Robert Clifton

  • Hello Robert,

thank you for your quick response, i have attached the circuit which im testing. it is simple unity gain buffer.

and the slew rate value which i considered that is mention in datasheet.

  • Hi Rushikesh,

I think what's happening here is the op amp's back-to-back diodes are triggering this irregular response.

These back-to-back diodes protect the inputs from excessive differential voltage.

We have a next-generation replacement device in the OPA991 that doesn't have these diodes, allowing you to have large differential changes on the inputs.

Also we only verify that our spice models work for TINA-TI and Pspice for TI. If you use any other spice simulator, we can't guarantee it will behave correctly.

    Best Regards,

    Robert Clifton
