OPA521EVM: DC design

Part Number: OPA521EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA521

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,

Good day!

Customer is trying to use it to power high current but use DC voltage signal. However,  we found that input is AC coupled, is there any way to use it as DC signals?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Jonathan

  • Hi Janathan,

Per the EVM schematic, I assumed that you want to use the inverting input terminal and remove the capacitive coupling.

Yes, you can do that by simply remove shorting the capacitor (or remove the cap and short the two pad), see the simulation below.

You can lower the Vbias voltage, if you are using dual supply rail, see the simulation file. The gain needs to be >= 7V/V, if you use the EVM as is.

If you have other questions, please let me know.

  • Hi Raymond,

Thank you for this information. I'll get back to you if there is any other question.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Jonathan,

You could configure the OPA521 in non-inverting configuration as well, if you use the power amplifier as voltage regulator. The gain has to be greater than 7V/V, unless you are going to compensate the op amp - drive resistive load.

If you have other questions, please let me know.

    Raymond
