LM339: Markings

Part Number: LM339

Tool/software:

Hi,

I have a customer who is hoping for some clarification on package markings.

Both the image provided in 4-1, and the written description indicate that the customer should expect a dot

Would there be any instances where a customer would receive an unfilled dot marking, ie, simply a circle? Rather than a filled circle? Are these interchangeble?

They were also wondering in regards to the 4th bullet if there is a character set available for comparison against marked devices? Thanks!

  • Hi Abigail,

It can be a spiral circle, as shown in the example, or a "plain", simple empty circle, or a round filled-in dot.

It depends on the capabilities of the laser marker at the assembly site. These devices are assembled at multiple assembly sites and not sites all have the same laser marking equipment.

The TI spec is that there is a circle of some type - filled-in or not - at the pin 1 position. From what I have seen, the spiral shown on the right is the most common.

If this is for optical inspection, I would recommend that the inspection allow for both filled in and empty circles. There will be "something" round there...
