OPA2211A: Clarification on GBW

Part Number: OPA2211A

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Our customer noticed something on the listed GBW for OPA2211A. The datasheet shows a 45MHz bandwidth for G=1, but it looks like 80MHz should be the unity gain bandwidth, and at a gain of 100, the bandwidth is around 800kHz.

The referenced FAQ also states an 80MHz bandwidth for OPA2211A for G=1. Can you help us clarify? Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards,

Jejomar

  • The FAQ correctly but misleadingly states that the GBW is 80 MHz, and that the OPA2211A is unity-gain stable. But these two values do not happen at the same time.

I've added a straight line (green) to figure 9:

The GBW is 80 MHz for G ≥ 2, but at high frequencies, the gain is lower.

  • Hi Jejomar.

    Please see Clemens comments.

At the unity gain, the OPA2211A is stable, shown in the open-loop AC analysis, the same Bode plot presented by Clemens.

The referenced FAQ also states an 80MHz bandwidth for OPA2211A for G=1.

    The datasheet indicates that GBW = Gain*BW = 100*f(-3dB) = ~80MHz, but this is Gain = 100V/V (not unity gain, where Gain = 1V/V).
