OPA855: OPA855 as a transimpedance amplifier

Part Number: OPA855

Tool/software:

I would like to use your OPA855 as a transimpedance amplifier for a 2.5GHz photo diode detector.

I need 2.5GHz bandwidth. Using your “Application Report SBOA122–November 2009” I should be able to get there.

I have a PCB built up, but a get a resonance at ~1.5GHz.

Any suggestions.

I would also like to use the OPA855 as a transconductance amplifier for driving a laser diode to 2.5GHz.

  • Hello Brian,

Thank you for reviewing our application reports. Would you be able to share a schematic with us? And, would you be able to share the internal photodiode capacitance?

Also, we have developed a tool for designing TIA circuits with photodiodes. You can modify multiple input parameters like output voltage range, diode current, selection of opamp, etc. At the output you can see transient + frequency response, noise analysis, etc. This is helpful for debugging via simulation.
