LM119: Device Marking

I have a batch of LM119H’s with device marking #78P299ME0 written on the side of their TO-100 package where # is the National Semiconductor logo. What does this device marking mean as I have been unable to find anything online to decode it.

Hi Kevin,

The side markings are as follows:

78 = Year Month Date Code

P299 = Assembly Lot Code

M = Primary Assembly Site Code

E0 = ECAT

So 78 is likely to be Aug 2017. How can I be sure it is not say Aug 2007?

Hi Kevin,

Yes, the year month date code can be ambiguous in the sense that it could be 2017 or 2007. I went ahead and ran the lot, and it appears that this device was assembled in Aug 2017.
