Tool/software:
Hi team,
I see that OPA994 can output 120mA in the datasheet. But it also depends on the power supply. So my question is that if the power supply is 10V, the output voltage range is 4~10V and output current range is 32~100mA. Can OPA994 support this requirement? Could you help check it or do the test to verify whether it can support this requirememnt?
Hello Hale,
We have some sample data available, please note this does not replace the data included in the datasheet and is provided for the customer's convenience.
Supply voltage of 10V, 25C is green, -40C is purple, 125C is red:
The OPA994 looks like it meets the customer request with some limits at really high temperatures.
All the best,
Carolina
Hi Carolina,
Thanks. From the 1st picture, it seems that it can output 100mA in 25 C degree while it's hard to output 100mA in 125 C degree. If in 85 C degree, do you have data, will it can output 100mA? The customer application maximum C degree is 85 C.
Hi Carolina,
Except for OPA994, do you have any other candidate for op-amp with 100mA output ability?
Hello Hale,
Looks like the OPA593 would also be a good fit, it has a current limit that can be set.

Caroline,
Thanks. But in this customers' application, the size is also limited. Do you have any candidate with smaller size than 4*4?
Caroline,
The customers can accept 2*2 size solution. Is there any other candidates which can support >100mA in 85 ℃?
Hello Hale,
Okay I will continue to look to see if I can find more options.
All the best,
Carolina
Hello Hale,
I could not find one in our common op amps considering the supply voltage and output current requirements with the size limitations. Within this size (2x2), there are 19 available high supply voltage op amps but they cannot meet the 100mA output current requirement: Operational amplifiers (op amps) product selection | TI.com
I remove the size limitations, I get these three options: Operational amplifiers (op amps) product selection | TI.com
The reason the options are so limited is due to thermal and size limitations. Larger voltages require larger transistors, higher current output requires larger output stages and enough physical space for thermal dissipation.
The OPA690 may also be an option, it is 2.9 x 2.8
All the best,
Carolina
