OPA2387: Interfacing OPAx387 with with Acoustic emission Sensor VS45-H

Hello Hari,

This is a huge range in voltage. Do you need to read the whole range or at some point just clamp it and lump that into a bucket called 'over range'. Protection will be needed because it looks like huge voltage is possible.  OPAx387 is good 1st gain stage for small signal, clearly the higher ranges will need a different path. Would a log amp be useful here?

I infer that the signal intelligence (the part you want to keep) is AC only. That makes OPAx387 very low DC offset extreme overkill. LMH6514SQ high bandwidth might be overkill. We haven't talked about signal bandwidth (min and max) yet.

I am designing a BMS based on  Acoustic Emission Detection and Analysis Method for Health Status of Lithium Ion Batteries.

The paper I am following is attached here.They are using full ready-made system in that paper.It is very costly.So I decided to move as shown above.

All the papers I read for acoustic emission from Lithium ion battery,ready-made test set up is used.

As per my literature study,  The AE signals of batteries mainly exist in two frequency bands, where the content of frequency band 1 is about 10kHz-120kHz, and the range of frequency band 2 is about 130kHz-180kHz.

The amplitude of these signals ranges from a few microvolts to several millivolts

LMH6514SQ isn't a bad choice ; the care about is the 200 ohm input impedance. The preamp should be quite low noise and if needed a buffer could be added to interface preamp to LMH amp

TLV3541 could be a good preamp that can drive 200 ohm load.

All AE sensors are based on piezoelectric effect.
