AMC3302: Constant Noise in the output signal and suggestions to improve the PCB layouts

Part Number: AMC3302

Tool/software:

Dear sir,

This is our initial version of the AMC3302 current measurement board. It produces constant 300 ~ 350mV noise signal in the BNC output of THS4131D amplifier.

Schematic

PCB layout

There are four measurements are available in the same PCB. Our initial board was damaged and now are ordering the PCB again.

Before ordering, could you please suggest the reason for the constant noise present in the current measurements & suggestions to improve the schematic & PCB layouts.

Thanks & regards,

Ilamparithi Tamizhanangu.

  • Hi Ilamparithi,

    What is your application?

Are you seeing this noise with no current input? What is the frequency of this noise?  Do you have a scope capture of the waveform?

You should add some filtering on the output of the AMC3302.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

The application is current measurements for the motor applications (majorly Induction motor & BLDC motor).

The current measurement board is connected to the motor line currents. Yes, we are getting the noise signal even before starting the motor.

Unfortunately, currently I don't have the scope waveforms. Initially we measured the current measurements using NI DAQ system.

Now we are planning to order the PCBs again & prepare the boards. Could you please share your comments about the PCB layouts?

    thanks & regards,

    Ilamparithi Tamizhanangu.

  • Hi Illamparithi,

I would add a filtering stage to the output of the device.  It's likely the noise you are seeing is due to the internal signals of the device.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for the support.

I will add the filter in the AMC3302 output and prepare the boards. We will test and update the results shortly.

    Thanks & regards,

    Ilamparithi Tamizhanangu.
