AMC1200-Q1: Required Electrical parameters of internal clamping diode

Part Number: AMC1200-Q1

Tool/software:

I have design two HV monitoring  block for input (LV : 400V )and output voltage (HV: 800V) monitoring of non isolated HV DCDC converter using this IC for max 1250V (Both ICs common power supply rail VDD_5V_ISO with common GND),  When we apply voltage on HV side and LV is floating , due to integrated diode and common supply, I observed some current path is created and LV side capacitor is getting charged causing voltage on LV  side, I want to know the electrical parameters of the integrated diode (forward current ratting , reverse leakage current ,etc), Is there any chance of IC damage, I attached  image of this scenario it may be clear how i am getting some voltage (approx. 8V) across LV capacitor

  • Hi Deepak,

    Thank you for your question.

Using a common ground between your high side and low side of a device will compromise the isolation barrier and is not recommended. This could cause damage to the device and undefined behavior.

To be clear, do you have two AMC1200s in your system? And they are only connected via power supply?

    Best regards,

    Eva
