PGA280 SYNC pin help

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA280, ADS1259

Hi

I have a question about PGA280  Amplifiers SYNC(in) application.

Normally PGA280 will be connected to ADS1259 ADC, where SYNCOUT of the ADS1259 is connected to SYNCin (PIN#18 or GPIO6)  of the PGA280 ,

In an application where I am aplnning to use some other ADC , where SYNCOUT is not available, how can i do  interface to PGA280?

SYNCin is required for PGA to operate ?

PGA280 can not be inetrfaced any other normal ADC ?

please help.

thanks

  • Hi Manjunath,

The PGA280 has its own internal  ~1 MHz  oscillator that is active when not used or driven with the ADS1259 Syncout pin; this is described on the "External Clock Synchronization" section of the PGA280 datasheet on page 26.

Since the PGA280 has a built in internal oscillator, the PGA280 is flexible and can be used with other converters without the syncout pin.  The PGA280 has an embedded synchronous filter that virually removes the chopping noise as described on the datasheet.  While the chopper noise is removed, any minimal residual amount of high frequency switching noise that appears at the output can be eliminated with an external passive low pass filter as described on figure 48 of the PGA280 datasheet.

    Best Regards,

    Luis
