PGA103: Selection pin of gain 100 defect

Part Number: PGA103

Tool/software:

We have actual problems with the PGA103, and the selection of gain 100.
When selection the pins for gain 100, we have always gain 1.
Several new chips does not work with the batch "79AP4".

If i replace the chip with an older batch, i have no problems.

  • Hello Ralf,

Thank you for posting on e2e Slight smile

Could you please share your schematic? I don't need to see all of it - just a snippet of the PGA and the power supplies and input voltage ranges it is connected to.
Additionally, could you share the label of the old devices and one of the newest devices?

I have searched internally in our systems and there have not been any changes to the devices since 2012, and the change in 2012 was a minor manufacturing location change.

    All the best,
    Carolina

  • Dear Caro,

here is the piece of the schematic. We use this since 20 years.

But the newest chips PGA103 have this problem.

The modules are brand new from the production.

Left is defect, right one is OK.

    Best regards

    Ralf

  • Hey Ralf,

I could not find the lot trace code "79AP4" within the internal TI system, were these devices bought directly from TI or were they purchased from a third party vendor?

The label on the bag provides more information than just the top-side marking, is that available?

    All the best,
    Carolina
