Can I replace #BUF634F/500E3 with #LME49600TS/NOPB as both have same slew rate (2000V/μs),supply voltage range (±2.25 to ±18) and output current (±250 mA)?

Hello Pritam,
What would be the design needs for your project?
If those are your two relevant specifications, you can certainly make a change to LME49600. Please also be aware we have a drop-in pin-to-pin upgrade to the BUF634, the BUF634A. The BUF634A is recommended over the BUF634 for new designs.
Here is an older thread I supported with some of our audio devices: https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio-group/audio/f/audio-forum/1401546/lme49600-opa1622-headphone-amplifier-design-review-tina-ti-instability-at-low-rail-voltages
If you would like to use the LME49600, you are welcome to do so. However, as an older device, the availability of the LME49600 for higher volume orders may be limited.
Overall, especially if you are designing for a higher volume product, I would recommend the BUF634A for new or upgraded designs.
Best,
Alec
Hello Alec,
Thanks for the reply. Our previously used part is #BUF634F/500E3 which having package type DDPAK/ TO-263.I did not find any similar package type option available in recommended BUF634A. I found #LME49600TS/NOPB having similar specs and package type. I have not checked the design aspect of this as I am new to this. Can you Let me know What changes/ aspect I need to check before replacing #BUF634F/500E3 with #LME49600TS/NOPB?
Hello Pritam,
I did not look closely at the package type; you are correct that moving from the BUF634 TO-263 the LME59600TS/NOPB is the reasonable choice. I do not see a particular issue in swapping one device for another. The package and pinouts are the same for TO-263 (KTT).
However, I will add that I recommend you reach out to your TI field and/or sales team to discuss your potential volumes on either BUF634 or LME49600. For new designs it may be better to work on a different package with BUF634A or another newer device.
If there is an absolute need to use the TO-263 package, you can do so and check with TI when you know your volumes/number of units needed. If you are redesigning anyway, I would recommend at least considering other package types to design a newer device onto the system.
Best,
Alec
Hello Alec,
Thanks for the advise.I will check with TE Sales team for further assistance.
