Transimpedance amplifier using OPA355

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2355, TINA-TI

Dear Neil,

I am designing new transimpedance amplifier and I am thinking a few options.

There are four options as shown in the attached file. My concern is the op amp noise at the output.

Second option is directly interfacing the PD between the op amp and the reverse bias.

What will be the drawback for this design?

If I put inductor between the PD and the ground (option3 and 4), will it be improved in terms of noise?

Our expected PD's current is 50~200nA.

Thanks,

Thomas

  • Thomas;

    You seem determined to measure the background illumination current, so here is a better way of doing that. It is necessary to provide a negative photodiode bias and there is some additional noise, but this circuit is simple and could employ a dual, OPA2355.

    I encourage you to use TINA-TI to investigate your ideas.
