BUF634:BUF634

Part Number: BUF634
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA604

Tool/software:

Good day. I have a huge problem, I have a CD Wadia 16 and unfortunately it is seriously damaged, the BUF634P were burnt, I know they have been withdrawn from production. I have a question, do you have old stock somewhere in your warehouse or what to replace them with? I need 6 pieces. Best regards and thank you. Piotr.

  • Just get the BUF634A‍IDR and solder it onto a SOIC-8-to-DIP adapter.

  • Hi Piotr,

Unfortunately, this device is out of stock and there are no future plans to restock this device. As Clemens mentioned, there is an option of using a SOIC-8-to-DIP adapter and implement a BUF643A in the SOIC-8 package. The adapter board can be found in the link below. I would like to add this is not an ideal solution as the longer leads with the adapter increases inductance and can result in ac performance issues. However, this is the only solution we have available.

  • Good morning. Thank you for your answers. I bought the BUF634AIDR buffer from Mouser.
After soldering, they get very hot and will definitely burn. My question is whether there is a difference
between BUF634AIDR and BUF634U. I also replaced 6 OPA604 pieces, but nothing helped. Wadia is on 4x
    PCM1702..

  • Hi Piotr,

The BUF634AIDR is a pin-to-pin replacement with equivalent functionality to the BUF634U. It is a performance upgrade as it offers better slew rate and bandwidth. The BUF634A should be a drop-in replacement for the system in question unless potentially something else is causing the devices to behave this way. Are you able to probe around the device when the system is turned on to see if there are signs that something else is occurring?

    Best Regards,

    Ignacio
