OPA2140: Higher frequency and lower noise version opamp

Part Number: OPA2140
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2828, OPA2156

Tool/software:

Hi experts,

Could you pick up some recomended opamps which have higher frequency and lower noise than OPA2140 as a replacement?
My first thought is OPA2828.

It is really helpful if you tell me several option.

Thanks,

Hiromu

  • Hi Hiromu,

If you are interested only on a dual JFET input amplifier, with low input bias current, low current noise density and low 1/f noise and higher bandwidth, the OPA2828 is the only device that will offer higher bandwidth and better noise specification.

Below is a comparison between the OPA2140 and OPA2828 JFET input amplifiers.  Let me know if you need a comparison with other amplifiers that are not JFET input or the application does not require low input bias current.

    Thank you and Kind Regards,

    Luis

  • Hi Luis,

Thank you for your support. The comparison table is helpful. Could you tell me more options including non-JFET input amp?

     Regards,

    Hiromu

  • HI Hiromu,

Do you have any concerns for low frequency 1/f voltage noise and low frequency 1/f current noise? Do you have strict input bias current requirements? or is the application work well with other bipolar input amplifiers (higher input bias current)? What is the application or end user case for this op-amp?

For example, the OPA2156 is a CMOS input amplifier offers low noise density at 3-nV/sqrt(Hz)  at 10kHz, and 25-MHz BW, with relative low input bias current in the 10s of picoampere, however, the 1/f low frequency noise will be higher on the OPA2156 CMOS than the JFET input amplifiers and offset drift is also higher on the OPA2156 compared to the OPA2140 or OPA2828 JFET input devices.

Other bipolar input devices can offer very low 1/f voltage noise, low voltage noise density, and low offset and low offset drift, but higher input bias current.

    Thank you and Regards,

    Luis
