Hi,

Do the OUTP and OUTN outputs have suitable protection for a sustained short to GND2, such that they will function normally afterwards once the short is removed? E.g., a cable flip causing OUTP and OUTN to be shorted to GND2. Since the datasheet lists an output short circuit current if OUTP or OUTN are connected to VDD2 or GND2, but I wanted to ask for clarification since the datasheet doesn't mention sustained output short circuits.

Hi, Would the current from OUTP and OUTN when shorted to GND2 with the chip powered be considered input current? If so, then a continuous short circuit (+/- 14mA) would exceed the abs max continous current of +/- 10mA and will/might damage the chip. Is that correct?

Hi Andrew,

Yes you cannot directly short the outputs to ground. You would have to put some series impedance between to limit the current if you were grounding an output pin.
