INA238: big messure error

Part Number: INA238
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA228

Tool/software:

i have tested the current from 10A--80A these days. There is a gain error, so i have to calibriet it with a proportion factor. see my data in forum:   INA238: error by 0-10A

what is the meaning of High-Precision sensor?  this sensor is not accurate at all!  even if i calibriet it!

so dont use the words High-Precision!

can the error be smaller than 100 mA?
Pls tell me another current sensor, maximal current 90A, use I2C Interface.

  • Hello Zhiwen,

If you are having problems even after calibration, then there may be a hardware related issue causing the current measurement to be off. I recommend measuring the voltage right at the IN+ and IN- pins of the device to make sure they are the voltage you expect.

If you are wanting a more precise sensor than the INA238, then you may be interested in the INA228.

I recommend using our error tool to estimate the expected system error for your setup. That can be found here: https://www.ti.com/tool/download/CS-AMPLIFIER-ERROR-TOOL. With this tool, you can easily compare the INA238 to the INA228 to see which one should be better for your requirements.

    Regards,

    Mitch
