TLV9061: TPS8802

Part Number: TLV9061
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS8802, TLV906X

Tool/software:

HI all. We are trying to do the POC of Dual-Ray Smoke Detector with the TPS8802 and MSPM0 MCUs and we are referring to the document provided on TI site. there is one section in the Block Diagram that we are not able to understand. please let us know if it is needed or not. also please let us know the recommended values of the resistor divider mention around the Op-Amp.

  • Hello Mitul,

    The application note says:

While set up for demo purposes, the hardware is intended to show the capabilities of TPS8802 together with the MSPM0 micro controllers. As such, the firmware and GUI for this demo does not include the use of the discrete back scatter photo diode channel shown in Figure 1-1. However, these can both be customized for more advanced sensing and algorithm implementations.

This section is optional otherwise it would have be integrated into TPS8802 or part of the demo. It is basically an additional photodiode stage. If implemented it should be close to the integrated photodiode channel. This one has low and high gain outputs just like the green block diagram with TLV906x.

  • Hi Ron,

Thanks for your prompt response. Can you please let me know what are the pros and cons of using back scattering vs only using one photodiode and forward scattering, because the certification could be pass by using any configuration.

  • Mitul,

This is not in my expertise. Try goggle AI search for "what are the pros and cons of using back scattering vs only using one photodiode and forward scattering". The result seems to be informed.
