Hey I was looking at this amplifier's datasheet and saw the VOL listed at typ 1.1V and max 1.15V with no min and wanted to know can this part not go to 0V?

    Hi Kyrell,

    OPA859 is not a rail to rail output device, that means for linear operation the output need some margin on both side of the supply rail for proper functioning.

    So in datasheet VOL listed at typ 1.1V and max 1.15V means if the Vee is 0V then the linear operation is guranteed if the output is above 1.15V (and typically it should be linear above 1.1V) on the lower side.

    Similarly for higher side swing limit you need to check for VOH spec. For 5V supply, VOH typical and guranteed is 3.95V and 4.1V respectively.

    If you want the output to go 0V with respect to ground the you need to power the device with split supply like +2.5V at Vcc and -2.5V at Vee
