I use the PGA309 in a voltage transducer design which is required to pass European Conformity testing (CE). I have taken two designs to a test lab and have difficulties passing the surge testing. The surge requirement is 1000 volts induced onto the power lines. I have designed in extensive circuitry to suppress and filter the high voltage level before the on board 7volt regulator and the 5 volt post regulator which feeds the PGA309. However, the PGA309 seems to latch to a high current draw state on every other surge pulse. It does recover on either the sequential pulse or given a period of about 1 to 2 minutes. We have seen a similar situation occur during production when using certain power supplies. If the power is cycled, the chip recovers. I tried stabilizing the regulator output by adding more capacitance which eliminated the problem during production. It still does it during surge testing. Do you have any ideas to resolve the issue?
