I am designing a 18S BMS Typically for 54V system application . Can i use INA226 for a current monitoring across the shunt resistance. shall I need to connect VBus pin tie to ground or 12V supply ?
Did Vbus pin mandatory to use ?

VBUS pin doesn't need to be used, it can be left unconnected. However, if it is tied to bus voltage, you can measure power supply bus voltage with respect to GND.
Also please note, the INA226 can support a common mode voltage from 0 to 36V, so it won't be suitable if you intend to apply 54V to the input pins. Please see the following link for more suitable devices.
