TAS6584Q1EVM: Unable to connect EVM to PPC3 v3.2.1

Part Number: TAS6584Q1EVM

Tool/software:

Hi there, I'm having trouble connecting my TAS6584Q1EVM to PurePath Console (PPC) on my Windows 11 PC. Despite powering all the relevant parts of the circuit, the device appears as "offline" in PPC, and there is no option to manually connect it. In Device Manager, the EVM shows up under "Audio Inputs and Outputs" as "Speakers (TI USB Audio UAC2.0)" rather than appearing as a port, which I suspect might be related to the problem. I’m running PurePath Console version 3.2.1, and I have tried connecting another device, but it also shows the same result. I believe the issue could be related to the drivers, given that it is being recognized as an audio device instead of a port. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and are there specific drivers or configurations I should check? I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions you can provide. Thank you.

  • Hello Oscar,

It should show up as an TI USB Audio UAC2.0. For the USB RDY LED is it a bright blue you are seeing? One option is opening the device manager in windows when you have the device plugged in and powered on. Doing uninstall device on the TI USB Audio UAC2.0 in Device manager and reconnecting your USB cable.

    best regards,
    Luis

  • Hi Luis,

I can see a blue LED light up when I power the device on. I have also tried uninstalling the TI USB Audio UAC2.0 device and reconnecting but it reverted back to how it was before the uninstall. Do I need to update the drivers or anything?

    Kind regards,

    Oscar

  • Hello Oscar,

It looks the drivers are working properly, blue light indicates the proper firmware is installed on our USB to I2C interface and you see it detected in device manager. The only alternatives i can see are

    • Reinstalling PPC3 in it's entirety with the latest version we have on TI.com
    • Use a different MicroUSB cable
    • Use a different machine

    best regards,
    Luis

  • Hi Luis,

After trying all the available alternatives, it seems that PPC3 simply doesn’t work on my laptop. I’ve switched to a different one, and it’s now working as expected.

    Thank you for your help!

    Kind regards,
    Oscar
