LMV331: When the customer was looking at the LMV331 specification, there were some sentences underlined in red as shown in the following picture that they did not understand. Please help explain them. Thank you.

Part Number: LMV331

Tool/software:

Hi TI Team,

When the customer was looking at the LMV331 specification, there were some sentences underlined in red as shown in the following picture that they did not understand. Please help explain them. Thank you.

According to the circuit principle logic of the in-phase input comparator, when the input signal at the in-direction terminal is greater than that at the reverse terminal or the reference voltage, the output should be at a high level.

  • That description is wrong; it should say "the output NPN will be off when …". The description in section 8.2.2.1 is correct.

  • Hello Ken,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    Yes. It is incorrect.

    It should read:

The output consists of an open drain NPN (pull-down or low side) transistor. The output NPN will sink current
when the negative input voltage is higher than the positive input voltage and the offset voltage. The VOL is
resistive and will scale with the output current. Please see Figure 6-3 for VOL values with respect to the output
    current.

We will correct this in the next revision.
