While reading the LM358 datasheet, I don’t fully understand this statement: "Measured under conditions of VCM = VOUT = VS/2, RL = 10kΩ (connected to VS/2)."
Additionally, what is the purpose of these configuration conditions? Are they meant to ensure the op-amp operates in its linear region?
What is the role of connecting RL to VS/2 in this context?

I created a visual below. The purpose is to keep the amplifier in the linear operating range. Connecting the load to Vsupply/2 in both split supply and single supply ensures that amplifier isn't loaded during tests that should be unloaded. What is the role of connecting RL to VS/2 in this context?
The output load is always tied to a mid-supply rail for symmetric, linear operation during datasheet testing. Vs/2 here refers to mid-supply (sometime a datasheet is spelled out the verbiage).
Here is what it means for dual and single power supplies.
