TL081: OFFSET N1 and N2 of TL081CDR

Part Number: TL081
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA197, OPA192

Tool/software:

Hi all,

My customer uses the following TL081CDR before PCN and uses the offset adjustment function.
I was told them that the offset adjustment function became unavailable around PCN was dated in 6/16/2022.
The number of occurrences is 6 out of 6.
While investigating the cause, I found a related thread.

1) Is the offset adjustment function unavailable because of a change in the IC internal (block diagram) due to a change in the die?
2) If 1) is YES, I think that the function of OFFSET N1 and N2 and the pin handling method changed. Please revise the data sheet.
3) They are looking for a pin to pin replacement. Do you have an opamp with the same pin arrangement? Or do you have a lower offset opamp with the same pin arrangement?

We are looking for a replacement as soon as possible.

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards,

Ryusuke

  • Hi Ryusuke,

    1) Is the offset adjustment function unavailable because of a change in the IC internal (block diagram) due to a change in the die?

Yes. The offset adjustment feature is removed due to more consistent FAB process, and change in the die for general purpose op amp design.

    2) If 1) is YES, I think that the function of OFFSET N1 and N2 and the pin handling method changed. Please revise the data sheet.

The datasheet is being worked on currently, but the latest revision has not been released.

    3) They are looking for a pin to pin replacement. Do you have an opamp with the same pin arrangement? Or do you have a lower offset opamp with the same pin arrangement?

OP07 should still have the offset pin adjustment feature, but it has only the following package type.

If you consider lower offset op amp, you may consider some of lower cost precision op amps, however most of the precision op amps do not have the offset adjustment pins.

If you have other questions, please let me know.

  • OPA197 and OPA192 are available in the SOIC-8 package.

What are the actual supply and input voltage ranges, and what GBW do you need? Depending on those values, more choices might exist.
