INA219: INA219: Current

Part Number: INA219

Tool/software:

Hello,

Is there a maximum current rating for the INA219 chip?

I'd like to use it in my design, and I'm pretty sure it'll be more than fine for the 130mA I'd like to monitor, but I just want to make sure.

Thank you,

  • Anastasios,

Thanks for the question and using the E2E forum.

Your maximum current is really going to be defined by the voltage across your shunt resistor. Depending on which gain version your using, this shunt voltage does have a defined maximum outlined in the datasheet.

You can watch this video for advice on selecting an appropriate shunt resistor here.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
