INA180-Q1: Is it possible to apply a moisture-proof coating to the element?

Part Number: INA180-Q1

Tool/software:

We are currently evaluating the application of a conformal coating to a PCB incorporating the INA180-Q1.

Is it permissible for the coating material to come into direct contact with the device?

Additionally, are there any chemical constituents within conformal coatings that should be avoided due to potential adverse effects on the component's performance or reliability?

  • Hello,

Having a coating material come into contact with the device is permissible. In terms of performance there should be no issue as long as the conformal coating does not create significant leakage currents. I would not expect any issues from a conformal coating that is intended for use with PCBs.
