TLV9041: Pspice simulation error

Part Number: TLV9041
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV9042

Tool/software:

Hi,

I'm trying to simulate High-side current sensing OP-AMP circuit as per snapshot & PSPICE design file attached. Simulation runs smoothly without any errors & as per expected Output voltage when Power Supply(V2) to Op-AMP is 3.8VDC. But when I reduce V2 to 1.8VDC then it throws Bias point related error.

Does it mean that this Op-amp will have a similar issue in real-time operation at 1.8V as well?? If there is a way to bypass this simulation glitch(if it is a glitch in the first place) then please suggest how to modify Pspice simulation profile. I've already tried "Auto-converge" option but didn't make any difference.

  • Hi Vishrut,

Any way you could share with me your simulation file?

When you power the device with 1.8V, your inputs are above the input common mode range of the TLV9042:

The input bias currents also increase due to forward biasing of the input ESD diodes:

  • Thanks Siu, for your insight into this key detail. After posting this question, I noticed that my circuit would work on 1.8V supply if the topology is Low-side measurement. Although it won't work the same way if the topology is "High-side current measurement". Thanks for the detailed insight & information.
