ALM2403-Q1: what is the maximum voltage if the output?

Part Number: ALM2403-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALM2402-Q1,

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

what is the maximum voltage if the output?

BR

Hangjie

  • Hi Hangjie,

The maximum output voltage is rated to be typically 35mV less than the positive supply voltage (see below for where this is stated in the datasheet).

Additionally, depending on the output current, there may be a drop in output voltage (graphs for these can also be found in the datasheet).

Please let me know if you have any questions,

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your quick reply, sorry for misunderstanding, want to check what is the Absolute Maximum rating for the VOUT pin when do not power this device,

Such as below ALM2402-Q1 DS showed.

I found that the ALM2403-Q1 have diode between the DS of the output FET, and when the output voltage over V+, the internal diode will conduct, and need calculate the thermal with VF*IF. could you pls let me know if have long time OV, whether the device will be broken, and what is the limit value?

    BR,

    Hangjie

  • Hi Hangjie,

I'd like to know more about the conditions seen by the device when it is powered off. You are correct about the body diode between the drain and source of the output FET. It's best not to strain this diode excessively, but to read more about building protective circuitry around this diode, you can also check out this application report: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sboa447/sboa447.pdf?ts=1750776833160

How is the device being powered off? Is the Vs+ pin floating or still connected?

What is connected to Vs-? (GND or a dual supply)

How much voltage is applied to VOUT when the device is off? How long of a timeframe is this applied over?

    Best,

    Kevin
