AMC1350-Q1: AMC1350-Q1 used as a differential input

Part Number: AMC1350-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO122

Tool/software:

I have an application where we need to provide 32 chl of isolation between Torque motor drivers and the monitoring AD Card.     Basically we are testing a UNIT and the 32 its torque drivers.   There is independent 32 tm's.   We do this by putting a representative inductive resistor load on the UNIT and we measure acrost the resistor (refer to image).    We are trying to use the AMC1350-Q1 to read across the R3 resistor where the voltage is ~5V at maxmum current.

We have used ISO122 which is a single ended device.    Now using the ISO122 causes the wrap around current inside the UNIT to FAIL because we have leakage current to the other channels because we share the GND1.

I think the AMC1350-Q1 will allow me to have 32chls independent of each other.   But all the documentation i have seen shows that INN and GND1 to be connected together.     Any comments if the attached circuit would work

  • Hi Jorge,

You are right in what you read about connecting INN to GND1. This is necessary to define the common mode voltage and it typically done by making the connection as seen below:

Please let me know if there are any more questions, thank you.

  • Hi Jorge,

Wanted to check if you have resolved this issue. Another consideration would be if you are using 1 power supply for all 32 units, this could be contributing to the grounding issues. Would you be able to use 32 individual power supplies? Or try testing a couple units with their own power supply as a debug step?

Let me know if further support is needed.

    Best regards,

    Eva
