USB2ANY: USB2ANY Firmware version

Part Number: USB2ANY
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP, MSP430USBDEVPACK

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

The customer connected the USB2ANY and opened the Analog LaunchPAD, but the firmware version displayed is incorrect. Is there a suitable firmware available for the customer? Please help share the link.

Best Regards,

Arabella

  • Hello Arabella,

Is the customer directly connecting their PC to an FPD-Link EVM? Or an external USB2ANY module before opening ALP? The ALP software should normally show a prompt that indicates a firmware update, if necessary.

Are you able to download the Python MSP430USBDEVPACK Python application and try to flash the firmware?

    https://www.ti.com/tool/MSP430USBDEVPACK

    1) Run the "Python_Firmware_UpgraderGUI.exe" application.

    2) Connect the PC to the USB2ANY.

    3) Follow the on-screen directions to hold the BSL button on the USB2ANY and then click "Rescan the HID Bus." Confirm that the application is detecting a device.

    3) Next, "Open User Firmware" and then select the "USB2ANY_2_7_0_0.txt" file from the below directory path on your computer.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\Analog LaunchPAD v1.57.0010\Drivers\i2c_controllers\usb2any\Firmware

Please note that you must install the ALP framework to get this firmware file. https://www.ti.com/tool/ALP#downloads

  • Hi Justin,

Thanks for your detail materials. An external USB2ANY module before opening ALP.

  • Hi Justin,

After the customer flashed the firmware, he found three problems when connecting to USB2ANY.
    1. DS90UB971 was connected, but DS90UH925 was displayed

    2. The device manager shows human input devices → USB input devices

    3. The NSC USB driver address mentioned in the ALP help manual cannot be downloaded

    Best Regards,

    Arabella

  • Hello Arabella,

To start with, after powering up the 971 EVM and connecting the USB2ANY module, can they try the following steps?

    1) Select the "USB2ANY/Aardvark Setup" option, under the Tools window.

    2) Remove the current profile and then add the 971 ALP Profile

    ...

This should allow you to communicate with the 971 device on the 971 EVM.

If the 971 ALP Profile is not shown as an option, then the customer needs to download and run the "ALP_97XXPROFILE_UPDATE_v06.exe" application, which will install the 97xx ALP Profiles. This executable is available on CDDS, so make sure they have access to the DS90UB97x-Q1 Supporting Collateral folder in CDDS.
