Hi Expert.

I tried to following steps to debug in C7 core to test. But I couldn't return infinity lool.

1. make PROFILE=debug

2. flash the debug project with sbl_ospi_hs_fs_debug.cfg

sbl_ospi_hs_fs_debug.cfg

3. connect CCS and AM275 board and load symbol file.

4. try to change the loop value from 1 to 0. But I couldn't return from infinity loop. I tried same thing on R5F in main domain. There is no problem.

Is there any trick to use infinity loog in DSP core?

Does the optimise option exist in c7 project with PROFILE=debug? Could you check?

Hi Ito-san,

You can get out of the loop in the following way -

1. Open disassembly

2. Do an assembly step into the second line of the highlighted code -

3. You can see that the branch decision is taken based on the value of A0 register. Go to top panel [view]

4. Select the A0 register from CPU Registers -> General Purpose and change its value from 1 to 0.

5. After that click step over/into and you should be able to get out of the while loop.

It seems that the value is set to A0 CPU register at jump process. So I can't change the value which is located the memory. Thanks a lots.

Anyway, do you know how to remove the optimise option in the makefile of DSP. Could you advice me? I'm really appreciate if you could check the make file as well.

The value is set in the first assembly line of the jump process. If you see the box I highlighted, there are 2 instructions. Do an "assembly step into" to the second line in the box and then change the A0 register content. After that click on step over/into to get out of the loop.

Refer to these lines in the makefile

CFLAGS_debug := \
	-Dxdc_target_name__=C71 \
	-D_DEBUG_=1 \
	--opt_level=0 \
	--symdebug:dwarf \

CFLAGS_release := \
	-Dxdc_target_name__=C71 \
	--opt_level=3 \
	--symdebug:none \

You can set the optimization level by using the --opt_level option. In the debug mode, it is already set to 0. No optimization is already disabled for debug mode.

I'm really apprecaite your support and confirm the makefile.

The opt_level has already 0. So I understand if we debug the DSP core, we need to undersatnd the technick for debug.

Hi Ito-san,

I think there is slight confusion here, debugging method is similar for all cores on TI SOCs, the extra steps in debugging C7x you see is due to an issue which will be addressed in the future.
