Tool/software:
Hello,
I'm working on a servo driver board with inline current sensing. Initially, I used AD818 current sense amps but after testing decided to switch to INA241B2. The chips appear to be pin for pin compatible, except the NC pin. INA241 datasheet says to connect it to GND, AD8418 datasheet says to leave that pin floating. Since the boards were originally designed for AD8418, the prototype boards have that pin floating.
I soldered INA241B2 in place without connecting the NC pin to GND and everything seemed to work fine. It's working a lot better than AD8418, so I'm planning to use INA241B2 for production (might also test INA241A2 before to see if it's worth the price difference). For the production boards, I can edit the design to connect the NC pin to GND before ordering the boards. My question is, is the pin connected internally to the chip? Does it matter if I leave it floating or should it be connected?
