LM2901B-Q1: LM2901B-Q1 is available to direct drive to opt-coupler LED?

Part Number: LM2901B-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2901

Tool/software:

I am designing some detection circuits and use some Opt-couplers. Then, this LED current is recommended to use 10mA. Then, if possible, I would like to use this LM2901B-Q1 to drive 10mA. The maximum current is 20mA, but the recommended value is 4mA. Please advise about this 10mA drive with LM2901.

Best regards,

Nakagawa

  • Hello Nakagawa-san,

For most, maybe all samples, 10mA could be achieved. It is possible that one or more samples may be not reach 10mA. I suspect current would be close to 10mA. So the risk of this should be carefully considered by the application designer. Example; would a lesser current adversely affect the application performance?
