OPA445: OPA445AU/2K5

Part Number: OPA445

Tool/software:

Hello,
We are currently using the TI part OPA445AU/2K5 (op-amp) configured as a comparator in our design. The application requires a maximum data rate of 9600 baud.
Could you kindly confirm whether this device is suitable for long-term operation as a comparator at 9600 bps, especially considering timing performance, reliability, and a projected 10-year product life?
Additionally, could you please provide details on the recovery time of this part when used in comparator mode?
  • The OPA445 does not have rail-to-rail outputs. But if your circuit takes that into account, it will work.

The recovery time is neither specified nor guaranteed. You'd have to measure it yourself, but it is at most a few µs, i.e., fast enough for 9600 baud.

  • Hi Archin,

whether this device is suitable for long-term operation as a comparator at 9600 bps, especially considering timing performance, reliability, and a projected 10-year product life?

I agree with Clemens comments. Based on your data rate, both BW and slew rate should meet the requirements. It will be the best to check it out for your application. Please pay attention to input Vcm range and Vout output swing, since this is not RRIO op amp.

If you have other questions, please let me know.

    Best,

    Raymond
