AMC1311: Any other UL certifications needed for commercial food equipment

Part Number: AMC1311
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1300

Tool/software:

I am going to use AMC1311 and AMC1300 for Voltage and Current measurement in commercial food service equipment. I can see that they have UL1577. Do I need any more approvals to integrate them into my product? Or is this the only UL certification that I need?
Thanks.

  • Hi Sudhanva,

Our isolation amplifiers are certified against IEC60747-17 and UL1577 from a generic safety standpoint - they do not carry specific end equipment certifications.  Underwriters Laboratories has many additional standards that are specific safety requirements for end equipment, so my advice would be to check with the test house or notified body that you are using to validate your end product and see if there are additional standards that you need to meet.  From a voltage isolation standpoint, you should be good to go.

  • I understand. The end product will have certain requirements. The only question I had was whether I would need to test AMC1311/1300 by itself. It seems from your answer that I do NOT have to do a 'stand alone' UL test for the IC, just the end product.
    Thanks.

  • Hi Sudhanva,

You should not need additional certification or 'stand alone' tests for the AMC13xx devices, but the test house may do some investigations regarding creepage/clearance and voltage withstand since that is going to be related to your physical hardware and PCB layout.

  • Thank you for the clarification.
