Here is a TI Precision Lab Video that explains what the CMTI test is and how it is tested on our digital isolators. The process is the same for the isolated amplifiers like the AMC1300, but we use a voltage level change on the output rather than look for a logic level change. Applications where there are large transients (motor control applications for example) benefit from a higher CMTI rating. Applications using high speed SiC and GaN transistors generally benefit from higher CMTI ratings. As a general rule, you would like to see the CMTI rating be greater than the switching speed of the power devices used in the application.
