The LM2904B’s improved ESD spec (HBM ±2 kV; CDM ±1.5 kV) reflects different on-chip ESD structure and process improvement. The inputs have no internal ESD diodes at input pins to Vcc, which it can be seen from the abs. max. rating table.
At the output pin, I do not see that there are any ESD diodes described in LM2904B's datasheet. My guess is that the output stage may have ESD diode protection (since the output pin passed the ESD tests). If this is important to the customer, I can confirm it with designing engineers.
