OP07:Abnormal

Part Number: OP07

Tool/software:

 ‌Figure 8  ‌Normal waveform at Pin 6 of the op-amp

  • During production, an abnormal phenomenon occurred on a batch of motherboards after power-up. The same batch of motherboards used two different printed OP07 chips, and the problematic ones were from the same batch of OP07.

  • Hi Li Shen,

OP07C/D has issued PCN, shown below. The difference you see is related to differences of two FAB process. 52 indicates that the part is manufactured in Feb. 2025. M and K refer to different manufacturing site. In this case, one is pre-PCN and other one is post PCN process. I think that K site may be the pre-PCN process (likely). Both op amps are considered equivalent functional, but I agree that they may have minor differences (such as BW and open-loop output impedance etc., and post-PCN OP07C has wider BW up to 1.3MHz).

Currently, both FAB op amps are sold in the inventories, and post PCN version will be the manufactured process used in the future (when the pre-PCN op amps are sold out).

If I understand the issues correctly, you may need to change C2 capacitor (222, 2.2nF) value. It will be also good to send me larger image, it is hard to read.

There may be something that you have not mentioned in the circuit. I see the following inverting configuration circuit. The 20kohm and 2.2nF will create a pole near 3.6kHz. It should have been ok. Does the TP2 drive any capacitive load? The issues are related to the op amp stability and it needs to be compensated differently from pre-PCN op amp due to the wider GBW.

Please let me know what is the actual TP2's load (resistive, capacitive, complex etc.),  and the inverting op amp configuration.
