OPA387: What is the difference in "Ultra-high" precision and precision op amps

Part Number: OPA387

Tool/software:

Hello team,

Just a simple question.

What is the difference in "Ultra-high" precision (Used for OPA387) and precision op amps.

Where is the boarder?

Best regards,

Taketo Furusawa

  • Furusawa-san,

When it comes to op amps, following terms for various degrees of precision are being used:

PRECISION - for parts with max input offset voltage (Vos) of less than +/-1mV and maxVos temperature drift of less than +/-2uV/C (typically laser trimmed)

HIGH PRECISION - for parts with max Vos of +/-100uV and max temp drift of +/-1uV/C (typically e-trim)

ULTRA-HIGH PRECISION -  for parts with max Vos of +/-10uV and max temp drift of +/-0.1uV/C (typically zero-drift - chopper or auto-zero)

Please note that in case of ultra-high precision additional parameters like PSRR, CMRR and AOL are 120dB or higher (see in green circle below).
