We are currently developing an infotainment project based on the NXP MIMX8ML6CVNKZAB processor and have implemented the following audio architecture:

  • Codec: TLV320AIC3104IRHBR

  • Amplifier: TPA6404QDKQRQ1A

  • AMicrophones: 2 (for Alexa integration and hands-free calling)

  • Speakers: 4 × 4 Ω, 25 W (front and rear)

In our design, the two codec speaker outputs have been duplicated to feed the four amplifier speaker input channels.

We kindly request your team to review the attached schematics for the microphone, AUX and speaker sections and share your feedback or recommendations to ensure proper functionality and best practices.

  • Hi Dinesh

    I looked over the sections related to the TPA6404 Amp, please double check the following:

    1. I'm assuming these are the decoupling caps for PVDD lines, we usually recommend 0.1uF and 4.7uF, it looks like a lot of them are 0.01uF here.

    2. Can you check if the SDA and SCL are pulled-up to DVDD with a resistor (something like 2kOhms is recommended); 

    3. The highlighted 0.01uF caps are all not necessary here, but you can keep them.

    4. Can you confirm which set of AUD_3V3 below is the bypass caps for DVDD? I'm assuming bottom second one from the left? 

    5. For the same screenshot as above, right upper corner, what is the inductance of that inductor?

    6. Can you check if there a bulk cap for AUD_12V somewhere to support your power requirements?
