TPA6120A2: TPA6120 : Trace Impedance for Routing

Part Number: TPA6120A2

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Please provide the recommended trace impedance value for routing audio signals from ROUT and LOUT.

Thanks

  • Hi Nachiketh,

In most cases PCB trace impedance for audio signals routes would not affect the signal as this is something we consider with higher speed signals. Possible exceptions would be if you are planning on following the PCB outputs with very long cables where impedance matching would be required. In cases such as this one, you would try to adjust the traces to try to get an impedance to match your cables characteristic impedance (ex. 50Ohms). You could set it to 50Ohms impedance values for your PCB but for most audio signal applications where the signal will be in the audio frequency, the trace characteristic impedance should not affect the performance.

    Best Regards,

    Ignacio
