Are rumours of this device's death exaggerated?

The post from two years ago seem to suggest that it was on its way out, yet it still seems alive and well and listed everywhere as current in production.

The datasheet mentions a "Noise reduction" pin. That's all it does: mentions it. What do I do with it? Connect a capacitor to V-? connect capacitors to V- and V+? how big? And does it need a capacitor on the output? That does get a little bit more space in the datasheet with a graph of stability regions, but does it need a capacitor?

Hi Ian,

Yes you are correct that there was a product discontinuance notice that was sent out in 2023, however in 2024, we sent a retraction letter and the TLE2426 was a part of this retraction. Please see the retraction letter copy from Digikey below:

Are you looking to implement this device in your design or is this device already in your application?

For a recommended use case we have this blog that shows how to use the rail splitter as a supply splitter, which is a common use case. In this instance, the capacitors can be connected to V+ and V- to reduce noise.

I've not used it before (it's a pity there isn't a 3.3V version, TLV2426?) But the design I was working on needed 13 op-amps, including one to provide a half supply reference. After some thought about how eliminate one of them to get it into three quads, I remembered the rail-splitter IC.

For a 3.3V version the post in the previous thread about using a unity gain differential amplifier was neat. Perhaps an INA500 next time I need a 3.3V split rail.
